Have a glass of "heart punch!"

I’ve spent a bit of time with “Foxy Oxy” in Las Vegas at the Cauliflower Alley Club events. The man bellows so loudly, he takes the paint off of walls and fillings out of teeth. And a more frightening personality you may never find. It took me a long time to muster up the courage to even chat with him.

But underneath the high volume and intimidating surface is a really sweet guy. Yes, he’s as eccentric as all get-up (who is wrestling isn’t?), and he can rub some people the wrong way with his brash personality, but he’s also very sweet, and sometimes kinda shy. He’s full of wonderful contradictions. The man who battled Snake Plissken in Escape from New York also wrote a cookbook filled with memories of old wrestling chums that have gone on to their reward. When you take everything into account, you can’t help but like ol’ Ox.

Ox Baker is sort of like the world today: it looks terrible on the surface, and some of the attributes are irritating as can be. Underneath all of that, things really aren’t that bad at all… and beauty can be revealed, if you allow it to happen.

Well, that’s about all the philosophy I can muster this morning. I need to go grab a cup of loose leaf tea.
